John Paul Designs

Inspired by patterns in nature and antique forms, metalsmith John Paul, owner of John Paul Designs, creates custom pieces of jewelry using traditional and non-traditional metals. "Because I grew up in a family who loved antiques, I tend to find inspiration in old forms," he says. "I make everything by hand and I work with a lot more different metals than a traditional jeweler, such as steel, copper, platinum and palladium." Because his pieces are custom made, Paul can create original looks that are not mass-produced.
Many clients, both local and non-local, come to Paul for custom necklaces, pendants and bracelets, but Paul says wedding rings are one of his most popular custom jobs. He admits making rings for couples is a rewarding experience as an artist. "It’s gratifying to create rings for a couple, knowing that in years to come they will be a symbol of their love."
