Make Up Tips For The Season
Story by Kim Hobbs
Spring is when the world awakens—days become longer, flowers bloom and wardrobes are revamped with lighter fabrics, fresh colors and trendy fashion pieces. While the earth undergoes the process of rejuvenation, don’t forget to give your face similar treatment.
Melissa Coffman, licensed esthetician at Sunriver Resort’s Sage Springs Club Spa, encourages women to try new make-up colors. "There are no rules when you do your make-up. It’s art," she says. "This spring season is bringing with it fun, modern pastels." The look is bold, contemporary and feminine—the idea to accentuate either the eyes or lips, while leaving the cheeks natural, with a hint of glow, she explains.
While the spring color palette is fresh and exciting, these colors are still appropriate for the office but are easily enhanced for a night out. "You just need to start with a good base," she says. "Jane Iredale PurePressed Mineral Powder is perfect for a dry climate like Central Oregon’s and slowly helps imperfections in the skin." Once the base is applied, you are ready to put on your spring face.
Lips
Day - Outline lips with a neutral color and then apply nude gloss. Try a shade by Jane Iredale, infused with ginger and mint—natural ingredients to plump your pout.
Night – Go funky with orange lips. "Orange is the new red," says Coffman.
Eyes
Day - Apply a bright pastel, such as aquamarine or peach, over the entire eyelid. Enhance the look with black eyeliner on top of the eyelid.
Night – Blend a complimenting pastel shadow with your original color to create a girly, glam look.
Cheeks
Day – Sweep a soft, neutral blush, such as Jane Iredale’s Copper Wind, across the apple of your cheeks.
Night – Give yourself a glow by lightly brushing a golden shimmer over your cheeks.
